Nature
Second part of the annual Drawing Workout online course
This Wednesday, March 4, at 8.30 pm we begin a new chapter of the Drawing Workout.
I feel very fortunate to accompany such a diverse and international group of people!
In this new Module, we will take a look at our natural environment, placing emphasis on themes such as Botany, Landscape, Minerals, Water and Gardens.
For each topic, I offer a brief introduction with the aim of awakening curiosity and encouraging a personal connection with each subject.
The Drawing Workout is a year-long course whose objective is to approach drawing from a playful, process-oriented perspective. Each week there is a theme and an exercise to be completed within one week. The idea is to create a small spark within our busy routines and turn this creative time into a weekly ritual.
The core principles that I believe are important for developing drawing in a natural and genuine way are:
Rupture
An essential part of the course is dismantling certain concepts or ideas that we carry with us from art schools—especially those related to control and perfection—which are precisely what distance us from a personal voice.
Play
Through play, we establish contact with the world. As we grow into adulthood, we tend to lose the playful energy that is essential to the practice of drawing and the arts in general. The exercises are designed to encourage discovery through practice.
Vision
Each of us has a particular way of seeing the world. Often, due to external pressures, we do not trust it. Through practice, we can reconnect with the themes that attract us and allow ourselves to be guided by intuition in a natural and genuine way.
Duality
Our identity is built through our experiences and biographies, but also through the narrative we construct about ourselves. Recognizing the dual aspect of our identity allows us to connect with something deeper and more unconscious. We are light and shadow at the same time. In the contemporary world, centered on productivity and results, there is little space to transform our own weaknesses into strengths.

I hope to see you in the Drawing Workout!
